Running Rosslare trains as a shuttle to Greystones unlikely to work.

Irish Rail are considering Rosslare line trains being operated as shuttle where passengers have to change trains to a DART at Greystones, representing a worse service as the change will add at least 7 minutes to the journey time and be disruptive. A shuttle train was used previously from Bray to Greystones and it failed to attract users.

Meanwhile the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, is cancelling the N11 upgrade and urging greater use of public transport along the same route!

‘6 years ago I produced a plan for a tripling of rush hour rail capacity, at limited cost, on this line but this has been ignored by Irish Rail even though it was launched by Minister Simon Harris TD.

Last year the most timetable complaints nationally were about the Rosslare service and the third most were about the Greystones Service. The line has the worst service in the Greater Dublin Area and a proper plan to improve the service is needed urgently’ said Cllr Derek Mitchell (FG).
