Mitchell welcomes extra Council workers from the Gateway Scheme

Wicklow County Manager, Eddie Sheehy, told Monday meeting that he had applied to get 100 part time people from this scheme. Nationally 3,000 unemployed people are to work 19 hours a week working on Community projects for Councils. These have been selected from people who are unemployed.

‘I welcome this as there is much work to be done and it makes sense to get unemployed people back into work. I am disappointed that Sinn Fein’s Cllr John Brady opposed the scheme at the meeting’. The manger has identified people and begun the recruitment process.
