The footpath from Holywell Estate in Kilcoole needs completing to the village. The path outside Holywell is good but people must now walk in the busy and narrow Sea Road for a short section and it is dangerous. A condition of the Planning Permission was that €37,000 should be paid by the developer to the Council so they could complete the path. We will be pressing for a proper Health/Medical Centre, Library, Garda sub Station and for playing pitches on Lott Lane.
The marshes are a very special area and we want them preserved and support Birdwatch Ireland’s plans for the area. We want the walk to Wicklow Town improved and made safer before it can be used more people. We are trying to work with Irish Rail and the National Parks Service to produce a plan to improve it.
The Kilcoole Plan was recently finalized and I intend to press to ensure that proper facilities are provided: Children’s Playground I worked hard to ensure that the Plan provided for a Children’s Playground and small Public Park on Sea Road/LottLane. We were very involved in getting the playgrounds in Greystones and Newcastle. Both of these have worked well. The landowner has generously agreed to donate an acre for this.
