Mitchell and Ryan demand Minister deals with N11 Traffic Chaos
“The traffic chaos that morning and evening commuters are subjected to simply can’t continue” – that was the clear message delivered by two Wicklow Fine Gael Councillors to the Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar.
Greystones Councillor Derek Mitchell and Bray Councillor John Ryan had a private meeting in Dail Eireann last Wednesday evening where they raised traffic and safety issues affecting Wicklow drivers in their daily commute.
The two councillors slammed the approach taken by the National Roads Authority who according to the councillors has treated Wicklow people with distain.
Cllr Mitchell told the Minister that the N11/M50 was the only radial route from the M50 not to be upgraded and that was causing chaos in Wicklow. Cllr Ryan also said the lack of action to upgrade this route has cost Wicklow Jobs and general economic development.
Both Councillors also raised the safety issues at Kilmacanoge and impressed on the Minister that action must be taken before someone losses their life in an accident.
A range of solutions were discussed including both long and short terms initiatives.
The Minister committed to raising the concerns with the Head of The National Roads Authority Fred Barry at their meeting this week. The Minister will also review recently revised proposals put forward by Wicklow County Council and Bray Town Council.
Wicklow Deputies Andrew Doyle and Simon Harris also attended the meeting and pressed the Minister for action
