Mitchell plan to provide more Greystones DARTs discussed with NTA

Cllr Derek Mitchell produced a plan to allow more DART services on the single track to Greystones. The National Transport Authority is interested in implementing this and has asked Jacobs Engineering to check it in detail and see if it is feasible.

‘I met the Investment Director of the NTA and pointed out to him, on the DART, how I think it can be done. The consultant was supposed to be there but his flight was cancelled. However he will be fully briefed by the NTA’ said Cllr Mitchell. ‘I await the study results with interest as the NTA seem prepared to invest money if it is feasible’

The timetable to be introduced on the 9th September provides a DART every 10 minutes to Bray but Greystones stays at 30 minutes because of the single track. The new service is planned to take an extra 4 minutes for some unknown reason. In the long term if more trains are to be provided to Wicklow the pinch point of Bray Head must be improved.
