Cllr Mitchell welcomes Ireland’s ranking as the world’s premier business location

“Today’s endorsement from Forbes, one of the world’s leading business publications, along with  Ireland’s exiting of the bailout in ten days time will send a very positive message to the world that Ireland is THE place to base your business,” Councillor Mitchell stated.

“An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, has stayed true to his commitment to make Ireland the best small country in the world in which to do business. Many of the decisions have been tough but it is working.

“The real impact of Ireland’s excellent business reputation is the jobs and investment that have occurred as a result of this Government’s approach. Over 58,000 jobs have been created in the last year and I believe that things will only improve in 2014. Today’s announcement by Forbes and Ireland’s exit from the bailout in ten days time will help greatly in that regard.”

If there is flexibility in future budgets this should be used to remove those on the lowest wages from the Universal Social Charge, thus increasing the incentive to work.
