The opening of this marina will provide excellent safe berthing for locals and visitors and will be a major boost to the town. Unlike many harbours it can be entered at all stages of the tide which is an important advantage. Many people expressed interest in berths at a meeting early in 2012 and I expect that at least 70 spaces will be taken in 2013. ‘It will also bring many visitors as boat owners keep asking me when they can visit Greystones’ said Cllr Derek Mitchell.
Greystones Harbour currently has the best public boat launching facilities in Ireland and no other town has given 5 clubs good sized compounds next to these launching facilities. (Sea Scouts, Rowers, Sailors, Divers and Anglers). These clubs have made excellent use of the harbour over the Summer. The opening of the marina will build on this to make Greystones one of the best water sport centres in Ireland.
It is expected that the Primary Health Care Centre will start construction early in 2013. The area North of this has been seeded with wild grass and wild yellow flowers are now starting to grow which next year should take away the bare look of the area.
