Mayor Welcomes first visiting fleet to Greystones

“The real impact of Ireland’s excellent business reputation is the jobs and investment that have occurred as a result of this Government’s approach. Over 58,000 jobs have been created in the last year and I believe that things will only improve in 2014. Today’s announcement by Forbes and Ireland’s exit from the bailout in ten days time will help greatly in that regard.”

The photographs show the first visiting fleet of yachts being welcomed to the new Greystones Harbour by the Mayor, Cllr Kathleen Kelleher and Cllr. Derek Mitchell.10 yachts from Howth, with about 30 people on board, spent Saturday night the 20th moored on the pontoons. They presented the flag of Howth Yacht Club to the Mayor and said they enjoyed the marina and found the town attractive.

Cllr Mitchell said this shows how Greystones is now on the marine map of Ireland as a destination and boats will come from many different places. We are even on the direct route for boats going from Land’s End to Scotland!

The Yachts included the Aldebaran, belonging to Pat and Olivia Murphy, who sailed the boat around the world.
