Harbour Open Day a success

Derek Mitchell very pleased with Harbour Open Day on Saturday. A large number of Greystones Residents visited the Open Day on Saturday morning, helped by the good weather. Sispar staff explained what was happening and the features of the harbour. I spoke to many and they were impressed by the scale of what has been achieved, though many are keen to have the hoardings down as soon as possible.

Sispar will hold an open day at Greystones New Harbour this Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. This is a chance to see what has been achieved behind the hoardings in the last 2 years. All marine works will be finished in 2010 and it is impressive to see what has been achieved. Press Release Crazy that LUAS extension has no Parking. Should be provided at Loughlinstown It is crazy that the just opened LUAS extension to Cherrywood has no place to park. Motorists must go to the overcrowded Park n’ Ride at Sandyford!! I took the LUAS on Sunday and was amazed at the lack of parking, which is very bad planning. Cllr Mitchell objects to Increased usage of Newcastle Airport.

Press Release Newcastle Aerodrome should not be expanded without limits to noise I have objected to Planning Permission to turn Agricultural Sheds into aircraft hangers as this will allow a major increase in noise and disturbance to residents. The Aerodrome has permission for use as a private one arising from use before it needed planning permission.

Toll on M50 will harm Wicklow jobs unless trucks allowed direct access to Dublin Port from the N11 in Sandymount.

The Minister for Transport has said he plans to introduce more tolls on the M50. The existing ban on HGVs going from Wicklow on the N11to Dublin Port, the main National Port, forces them to use the M50 and doubles the mileage from Wicklow to Dublin Port thus doubling the cost of bringing goods to Wicklow. Introducing more tolls on the M50 will make transporting Wicklow goods more expensive. If the extra tolls are introduced then direct access from Dublin Port to the N11 should be restored through Sandymount. Motorists…

Greystones Harbour facilities to be complete by end 2011.

I welcome this as Greystones had been trying to get the harbour rebuilt for over a hundred years and this will create the best Community Harbour in Ireland. Tuesday nights Greystones Town Council meeting was informed by Sispar that the major work on the seawalls would be complete at the end of November 2010. Following this, construction of the Health Centre, public square and Community buildings for the Sea Scouts, Rowers, Anglers, Divers and Sailors will start in January and should be complete in December 2011.
