Mitchell welcomes footpath projects starting in Greystones Area

The roundabout in Kilcoole is to be replaced by traffic lights to improve safety and €150k has been allocated to do it this year. A plan has been drawn up for a footpath down to the sea but this will have to wait for extra funding and discussions with landowners. ‘I am pleased that this is finally getting closer as a path to the station and sea is badly needed’.   At Killincarrig funding of €100k has been received to provide 4 pedestrian crossings at the roundabouts this year. Mitchell pleased an extra ambulance and 6 staff are to be based in Newcastle Hospital

Accident and Emergency facilities are being transferred from Loughlinstown Hospital to St.Vincent’s Hospital. Many types of emergency now bypass the hospital and the A & E facilities will close on 27thNovember. This is being done because much better diagnostic facilities and staff to interpret them are being provided at the larger hospital. My concern is there should be an improved ambulance service to Wicklow because of the extra distance and to ensure that St Vincent’s can cope with the extra patients.
