The developers met Harbour Users and the wider Consultation Group last night (Tuesday) representing about 25 different groups in the town. Sispar have amended their plan to deal with some earlier consultation issues, reducing the parking area and providing a green area. Some spaces will now be for parking boat trailers. Sispar told a meeting of Town Councillors that they intend to open temporary facilities by the end of August. This will consist of: · Taking down most hoardings and replacing with decorative railings thus opening up the views. Bord Pleanala decided on the 6th April that the changes to include 34 extra homes in the Harbour Development need to have an Environmental Impact Statement. These changes will then have to be assessed by the Bord, the fifth time the Bord will decide on the Harbour Plan. This further delays the project by possibly a year. Greystones Town Council is to write to NAMA urging them to make an urgent decision to fund the next stage of the harbour PPP so that the hoardings can come down as soon as possible. Cllr Derek Mitchell (FG) said that ‘it is in the interest of the town to get the hoardings down and the HSE Primary Care medical facility open quickly.
