Good Wishes to Record Setting female sailors

Greystones sailor Pamela Lee and her co-skipper Cat Hunt are attempting to set the first record for an all female, double handed circumnavigation of Ireland. They are hoping to inspire girls in Ireland and the UK to take up offshore sailing on equal terms. Probably setting off from the Kish on Tuesday evening, depending on the weather, it is expected to take about 5 days

‘This is a tough challenge, working 2 hours on and 2 off all that time, I wish them well’ said Cllr. Derek Mitchell, Cathaoirleach Greystones District.

The French built Figaro yacht is very fast and built for shorthanded sailing with 1 or 2 persons. It has been working up for a week from Greystones Harbour in preparation.
