Mitchell concerned at lack of land for manufacturing jobs

I was asked by a manufacturing company, seeking 3 acres, to expand about where there are suitable sites in the area. Many employees live locally and they want to remain in the area. They approached the IDA about their 64 acre site in Greystones but were rebuffed.

I feel it is wrong that manufacturing sites are not available as Greystones has a very low number of people working locally which forces so many to commute. I asked the Council to intervene with the IDA. However the IDA has said they have a client for the site and an ‘announcement is expected in the coming months’

For 35 years the IDA has been talking about providing jobs on that site but nothing has happened!

I have offered to take the industrialist around the area to see if other sites might be suitable.
