Mitchell says changes needed to Kilcoole & Newcastle 84 bus service

The new timetable has deleted 3 Northbound services and 1 Southbound leaving 19 and 18. This is a major reduction (15% Northbound) at the same time as a reduction in train service. Naturally more people will use cars on the already overcrowded roads and many new houses are being built. It is also contrary to the future Bus Connects plans for a better service. I have asked the NTA & Dublin Bus to urgently change:

a.     Previous 07.20 North which schoolchildren got to Bray and elsewhere. They will now be driven.

b.     A later evening say 23.50 North. The last 2 buses now go back empty and 1 could form this service.

c.      Concern that schools will miss 15.55 North (was 16.10) from Kilcoole and have to wait till 16.55 or be driven by car.

d.     1st bus South arrives Kilcoole 8.35, previous 7.40 am. People start work in the industrial estates at 8 now can’t get the bus.

e.      There was a bus South from Bray at15:20, 15:40, and 16:20. The 15:40 is being taken away! The new times from Bray are 14:50, 15:50 and 16:50 – this will have serious implications for school kids coming home. The 15:20 use to often get delayed and the 15:40 would catch up. Both would be full in Greystones. However, the first one that was late would often transfer its load to the one behind so it could get back on schedule. This meant that all the kids got home and schedule got back on track. With the new timetabling I can’t see all the kids been able to get home in the first place and secondly if one of the buses is running late there is and another one to take its place.

An 84x every 2 hours during the day terminating at UCD would be a good service used by many people. Rush hour ones, as now, going to city centre.
