Greystones not Funded Properly

Greystones does not get enough money. Yearly spending per resident is €251 in the West, €227 in Arklow, €194 in Bray but only €137 in rapidly growing Greystones. I am against further growth unless more money is found and roads planned for 30 years, for populations smaller than now, are built.

An article by Catherine Murphy TD in the Irish Times highlighted that Wicklow, with a rapidly growing population, is not being funded adequately. This is in spite of the Local Property Tax introduction and is related to spending being defined by 2001 or earlier patterns. Spending within Wicklow is also on old population bases and expanding areas are not being funded properly.
