Mitchell pleased that development planned for derelict La Touche Hotel, Greystones.

A company called Kavere La Touche has recently applied for planning permission to develop 26 houses of 3 and 4 stories in the shell of the old hotel and 58 car spaces. They also intend to use the old bank for commercial purposes and to redevelop 1,000 m2 of commercial space behind the frontages of 2 houses on Marine Terrace. A public open space, seats, a play area and lawn will face the sea.

Cllr Derek Mitchell said ‘The most prominent building in Greystones, the front and back walls of the old building have preservation orders, but it has been a derelict eyesore for over 10 years. I welcome much needed progress on the site it’s been a long time coming. The bank, used recently as a restaurant, was the first purpose built bank building in Ireland’.
