Mitchell pleased Court grants permission for Data Centre in Newtownmountkennedy

The Supreme Court decided to grant planning permission for a major data centre between Newtown and Kilpeddar. Ecological Data Centres had appealed Bord Pleanala decision to refuse it after the only objection was withdrawn. ‘I welcome this advanced industry and hope that it will actually happen. It should never have been refused if we want to encourage jobs in Wicklow’.

The National Roads Authority tried to stop this even though there is plenty of capacity at the closest N11 interchange. If built, it will reduce the need to commute from Wicklow which will ease pressure on the N11 at its most crowded point at Fassaroe. The NRA should have supported this.
