Irish Rail will be fencing most of this for safety reasons and will close off to pedestrians the Breeches Bridge at Kilcoole. I met with Irish Rail last week and they have agreed to ask bridge engineers to design a solution which will probably be a separate pedestrian bridge. However this is likely to cost over €500,000 and money must be found.
‘At least if we have a solution designed we can lobby for funds to keep it open’ said Cllr Derek Mitchell.
